Welcome to reality. It will make little difference. As the demand on American Oil increases so will the price. Time to thinking small car America

That would be like admitting defeat. It'd be better to just take what we want from the middle east before russia or china gets their filty foreign hands on our oil.

Anonymous B replied with this 14 years ago, 7 minutes later, 4 hours after the original post[^] [v] #297,763

It won't happen though. The whole world has the same problem. Whatever, which ever, the price is going up. America has enjoyed low prices for too long. $4 a gallon is pittance. Wait till it hits $10 - $12 and continues to rise.

It won't, because blood for oil.

America is only cushioned because it has it's own oil. Prices are set to nearly double over the next few years. American aggression will simply speed up the process. The day of the Gas guzzler is over. The longer these facts are resisted the more America financially plays into the hands of the far east and European car manufacturers.

We will attack them in WW3 and destroy all automakers except Ford and Chevy. Once we have all the oil and cars the world will have to pay our price.

It won't be cheap.

I read that oil price in gold is actually stable, and that increases are not so much due to supply/demand but inflation.

I wonder why everybody drives vehicles like full-sized pickups and SUVs for no specific reason, then proceeds to complain about gas prices...

We have shitloads of oil in the United States that we can't touch thanks to environmentalists. If gas actually breaks $10/gallon in the United States, even the most bleeding heart liberals will be slitting the throats of the environmentalists to get to that oil and lower the price. Once that happens, we'll be energy independent and will enjoy lower prices again for a while, but we need to invest in alternative energy sources. I think nuclear is the way to go.

so we anally rape the land without lube, and only then when everything is ruined, we invest in alternative energy! brilliant!

Or maybe, JUST maybe, we can invest more in oil shale and making use of it efficiently.

Broseph !!fxnDb+Ve4 replied with this 14 years ago, 40 minutes later, 9 hours after the original post[^] [v] #297,901

@297,885 (Falco !PZmcClOUDk)
It's not raping the land. It's environmental economics. We have enough oil in this country to drive energy costs way down. We need to maximize our energy output to the highest sustainable level. If we use up all our oil before alternative energies can pick up the slack, then that's not sustainable. If we force our way to alternative energy and don't utilize our oil resources, then we're not maximizing energy output. If we utilize our oil while investing in alternative energies, we're maximizing energy output at the highest sustainable level.

Stop fucking commuting so much and the price of oil will come down. It's not rocket science. Nobody needs to live 2 hours from their place of employment and drive a Land Rover. Fuckers will get no sympathy from me.

Eventually, whatever action we take oil reserves will be so low that it will be used only in essential manufacturing. There are many well known and researched alternatives but they have to be led by the oil companies themselves. At present they are powerful enough to block even Government initiatives.
