Topic: I want to kill God.

リリン !FNkB2zAPHk started this discussion 14 years ago #17,600

Because if I can kill God--

It is only reasonable to conclude that I would be God's successor. If one could kill God, they'd have to be superior to God in some way or another, and thus would have more power over the universe due to their superiority.

So yes.

I want to kill God, even if only because of the power that it'd grant me.

No dude, you're the idiot. Just because you kill someone doesn't mean you automatically absorb their power. What kind of fantasy world do you live in? If I kill the president, does that mean I suddenly have more control over the government than he did? Fuck no. It means I murdered someone, which takes no skill or intelligence or power. If there were a god, and you killed him, you'd be nothing but a pansy faggot little god-killer.

Fuck this was the dumbest post I've read in a long time.

I'm pretty sure you need to be able to create life in order to be God.

Anonymous G joined in and replied with this 14 years ago, 4 hours later, 8 hours after the original post[^] [v] #296,949

What you're forgetting is God exists outside our space-time continuum. If you kill God, he wouldn't have existed to create the universe. So the moment you kill him, everything would be immediately removed from existence, including you. And since it's as if you never existed, God just pops right back into existence.

It sounds like you're taking the grandfather paradox and applying it to something outside of time, which doesn't work. If he exists outside of time, killing him would do nothing. It would have no effect on anything he created. It would only have that effect if he existed before the creation of the Universe, which he didn't, as "before" wouldn't apply to that existing outside of time.

actually, it would work, since god both supports and is part of everything

But what if instead God exists across all points of time simultaneously? I think it would work.

God's existence in time in itself wouldn't matter. Even if he occupied all points of time simultaneously, the only thing that matters is when he created the Universe. The Grandfather Paradox still doesn't apply, because it's necessary for God to have created the Universe before our hypothetical killing of Him - which he didn't, because as he's outside time there is no "before".

But he's outside of existence, right? Just like he's not made of that which he supposedly created, I don't see why His presence (or lack thereof) would have any effect on us.

MC solves the mystery of what proceeded the big bang. God was obviously murdered, causing the whole universe to reboot from point 0. For all we know this could be the millionth time.
