I know lots of people believe that wind chill actually lowers the temperature. They don't understand that it's just the wind pulling the heat off your body, making it feel colder than it really is. I guess that relates to the fan thing also.
A lot of people still don't understand that Greenland is the one that's an icy desert, and Iceland is the one that's actually livable. The Vikings named them this way to confuse people. Apparently, this is still working.
Lots of people who don't even have college degrees think they understand quantum physics and they need to shut the fuck up. Most quantum physicists don't even fully understand quantum physics, and the ones who do fully understand it may still turn out to be wrong.
Many Star Trek fans do not understand that the warp system is logarithmic. Warp 5 is not 5 times the speed of light, it's 10,000 times the speed of light. This makes much more sense when you consider the distances they travel on that show.
Most people still don't understand that every "LED TV" on the market today is still just an LCD with a different type of lighting. Most people also are completely clueless about all the improvements that have been made in Plasma screen technology, and still think that the plasmas of 2011 are just like the plasma are 2005 and think they're being phased out.
Most people still don't understand the difference between RAM and hard drive memory and delete programs when their computer tells them that they're out of virtual memory. Most people still don't understand what virtual memory is either, though that's not really a misconception as they simply have no conception of it at all.

Incorrect. In Voyager, it was stated that it would take a Federation ship 80 years to cross the galaxy or an average speed of 2,500 times the speed of light. At 10,000 C, it would take them only 20 years.

They say a lot of inconsistent things on Star Trek. They travel all around the galaxy all the time so "80 years" is an example of inconsistency. There is no specific canon for how the warp system works, but it's generally agreed that it's definitely exponential and not linear. If warp 9 were only 9 or even 90 or even 900 times the speed of light, they would never be able to travel the distances they do.

I never cared about the technical inconsistencies, just the big one. In the original series, half the aliens they met were energy beings and other super beings. In the next generation they met less of them, but still some.
Then The Borg (cybernetic race that assimilates organic life into cybernetic slaves) comes along and goes, "Durrr we're super powerful and can assimilate everything. Durr we know not of energy beings." And this is despite how the Q (semi-omnipotent energy beings) play with The Borg like toys all the time.

Iceland is still pretty cold. BTW according to this list vikings did not have horns on their helmets :(

Idiots, all of them. Most people I meet think that more RAM = faster. I know people who bought 8-10Gb of DDR2, even though it would have been faster if they bought less and made it DDR3 and perhaps put a little into the processor.
