Most people in this country don't even know what Minecraft is. Everyone around the world knows who the Pope is. He may not be a big deal in this country, but in predominantly Catholic countries like Italy, he's huge. He's a global celebrity. Everytime he pokes his head outside thousands of Catholics act like 14-year-old girls at a Justin Bieber concert. 100 million is an exaggeration, but there are a billion Catholics in the world and he will have millions of followers. I'm not even Catholic and I acknowledge this. Aspies need to get off their computer and out of their basement more.

There have been ~5.2 million copies sold, so that would be ~5.2 million people who thought that Notch was the greatest coder that will ever exist on planet earth. Compare that to the pope.
According to Wikipedia, there are ~1.1 billion Catholics. Part of being a Catholic is accepting that the Pope is the Vicar of Christ. That's a considerably more lofty position than "best coder who will ever live". So if you combine the fact that there are about 200x more people who support the Pope than Notch, and they support the Pope to a significantly greater degree than Notch's fanboys support Notch, then you're wrong.
