And am putting Ubuntu on it. Presumably this will run on this, as opposed to my shitty desktop. Wish me luck.

Damnit, well I'll have to wait till i get home, I need a wired connection so i can download my drivers for my wireless card

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBook#iBook_G4_.28.22Snow.22.29? The specs differ, but they're all shit compared to nowadays standards.

My PC has a 551 MHz processor. I just wanted a cheap laptop that could out perform my desktop

The specs differ between the 2003, early 2004, late 2004 and mid 2005 releases, as stated in the link.

Better than nothing, only 40gb of storage though. I'm going to have to lrn2neckbeard and turn my tower and my 4 extra hard drives not counting the 4 I'm using in the tower as extra storage.

I just switched to Ubuntu a year ago. I love it.

Yeah it sucks you have to fuck with the UI to get a decent product, but at least they finally have decent drivers for most everything. I'm not looking back.

I want to try the Mac without OSX limiting my space. Should I burn a backup of the current os before clean wiping?

If it's not too much trouble, yes. Better to err on the side of caution than just go wiping shit and then realize you needed to keep something down the road.
