Why does one have to get married?

This. I'd just go about my business as usual since it doesn't affect me at all. The sooner the assholes opposing it realize this, the better.

Legalized isn't quite the right term. It leads people to believe that currently it is illegal, which is largely synonymous with criminal. It is merely that homosexual marriage is not recognized by the state.

I'd think it's too good to be true, but yeah I'd approve.

Americans think that gay marriage is a direct threat to heterosexual marriage. If that is the case, then there must be gangs of married homosexuals who run around maliciously disrupting happy heterosexual couples. I want to join them in their quest for the utter dismemberment of the tradition of marriage.

This. Gay marriage would have very real and very serious consequences other that just annoying people who hate change. Obviously.

I can confirm this with a 100% true and not fake anectdote that totally happened. My best friend was happily married to someone of the opposite gender, and then gay marriage was legalized. Now he is married to eleven different men, 3 cats, a wildebeest and a 14" black dildo.
Gay marriage: not even once.

You're right, it's a slippery slope. If they legalise that, then who knows where it will stop? Before you know it they'll just allow anyone to marry anything and society itself will collapse.
Gay marriage is also letting the terrorists win.

An actual argument used is that the line must be drawn somewhere - if we recognize homosexual marriage, society's view of marriage will be so fundamentally changed that it will not be long before bestiality and pedophilia is recognized.
This argument assumes you are opposed to the latter lol

Well yes, the line must be drawn somewhere (non-arbitrarily). Proponents of homosexual marriage would probably say something along the lines of "Marriage is a contract agreed upon by two consenting adults." I don't think many people would disagree with that definition. People opposed to gay marriage want to qualify that sentence by adding in "of the opposite gender", but that to me seems at best arbitrary, and at worst, bigotry.

You're right. Once we allow all of those homosexuals to marry, pedophiles will suddenly be accepted by the government and be allowed to marry.
Thank you for you wisdom, mountainman.

This. Marriage has nothing to do with raising children, which is another common objection. Marriage is a legal state where two individuals become legally recognized as one person i.e. joint ownership of property. I don't know if that's how it works anymore, but I like that definition.
