No. Extended warranties work the same way a casino does, but with far better odds on the house.

I highly recommend extended warranties for any electronics purchases. Electronics are complex, expensive to repair, and fail frequently. The cost of one repair is often more than the cost of an extended warranty, which would pay for multiple covered repairs.

The need to buy an extended warranty is just the manufacturer admitting they have made a crappy product.

at office depot we're supposed to always push our extended warranties until the customer says no.
our two year warranties can be worth it since HP printers only last two years in the first place.

Since you don't earn commission on printers at Office Depot, but you do on warranties, the sensible solution would to push it until they buy it or leave the store entirely.
