so, we all make mistakes, but, apparently mine are atrocious. Let's take this opportunity to review some of my writing, and maybe for you to explain to me what rules i'm breaking and how to resolve them. Maybe you'll even learn a little about yourself in the process.

i'll start with a passage from something i've been working on recently.
During the middle ages bookshelves went through a second paradigm shift where radical new designs were adopted to store both scrolls and bound volumes of pages, known as books. It was during this period that the classical étagère de livre, or bookshelf, gained predominance in the south of France. Sometimes known as the étagère de livre sans rouleaux, it was an elegant design meant purely for the storage of books and did not have an area for scrolls at all.
please remember, this is just a rough draft, so i haven't proofed it yet.
