Topic: How do you feel about the taste of tap water?

I can't stand it myself. The chlorine makes it taste like I'm drinking out of a public swimming pool. Thus, I find myself buying endless gallons of bottle water because it tastes so much nicer. Do you guys mind the taste of tap water?

It's tolerable. Given the choice I'd go for bottled water, but tap water will do.

Tap water around my area tastes pretty good, actually. I doubt most people could tell the difference between the tap water here and bottled water.

The tap water from back home in California was amazing. Here, no. Super shitty, our well even has trace amounts of that chemical that made that lawyer girl all crazy and then they made a movie about it. Chromium blablabla or whatever. I shower in that shit. I'm gonna die :/

Was it Chromium VI or Chromium III? Only one of those is toxic, and the other you'll almost certainly find trace amounts of the other anywhere.

It was the toxic one, and the water table adjacent to the one we're one is badly contaminated. I guess trace amounts was to gentle of a word, we're trace amounts under the dangerous limit on our water table.

Seriously though, do you have any idea what the source of contamination may be. I know in the Erin Brokovich (the movie lawyer girl) case the source came from a natural gas compression station whose waste water pools were unlined. If you don't want to rely on bottled water, you may want to invest in either a filter capable of removing hexavalent chromium (I don't know if such a thing exists) or a reverse osmosis machine for drinking water.
If nothing else, arm youself with knowledge! Here's to hoping for the best.

That's good if you're getting it from an RO mill, though you may try and find out whether or not it's suitable for removing hexavalent chromium. Although RO is pretty much par for the course when it comes to treating Chromium VI contamination, the membrane pores must be suitably small (read: certified) for the removal of that ion. For all I know though, the RO system may have been put it place to tackle that very problem.
For as much as the opinion of a random minichan poster is worth, you're probably better off with the RO system than the vast, vast majority of people are in California.
