I know it's bull. That's why I joked about it. I saw a story about this on one my local channels. It smells like the news media doing bad science reporting and playing up the fear factor to make an "issue" out of nothing. Caramel color is in lots of things. Yes, when you pump lab rats full of it, they get cancer at a slightly faster rate. That is true of lots of everyday things. Caramel color, A.K.A. slightly burnt sugar, has been used for ages and is a pretty safe food in terms of cancer risk.
The real problem seems to be that people enjoy chugging gallons of soda each day for years straight.
