Thanks! So far it is good, but also a bit frightening. It is so huge, and I am usually the only Westerner in a place. They tend to stare at me lol. But, I have made three new expat friends, two from the US and one from England, and we have hung out some. Also, the people at my school should be friendly. I start Monday!

It is very hard to meet Chinese people unless you work with them (work starts Monday). People just do not talk to each other in public unless they know each other.

That's a bullshit excuse. Do random people walk up to you on the streets anywhere in the world and start a conversation? Nope...
I get this told for every country I've been to, most recently Sweden. But guess what, when you actually approach people and try to talk to them, most will talk back...
But like I've said, have fun mate, bet China is exciting even if you're doing it wrong.

Let me make this clear. It is more comforting to be lazy in your safehouse, surfing MC and blame a whole nation instead of making an effort.
But if it makes you sleep easier, than sure, it's impossible. Go ahead, lock yourself up, set limits to what you can do. DM being DM, a weakling. Nothing new to see here.
EDIT: I suggested walking up to people and talking with them. And yes I'm insulting you cause you're insulting a whole nation by blaming them for your loneliness.

I'm applying the way things work in all places I've visited so far. People say the more north you go in Sweden the harder it is to meet people.
Guess what I did with that prejudice in Sundsvall. I took a dump on it and went to, what turned out to be a private 60 years of the neighbourhood celebration. I walked up to them, asked what it was about, and after some weird looks made a shitload of friends. Which is weird, since most of the people were either 35+ or their <15 year old kids.
Everything is possible. But man oh man, would it have been easier to avoid all that and eat a burger at McD's.

I do not eat at McDonald's. If you got on a Beijing subway and started talking to people, they would laugh at you and avoid you. but, you are an expert in everything, so I digress.

I would be the first to laugh at myself if I approached someone completely random and said retarded shit like "Hey, I just bought an expensive whine from my whine mafia friends, let's be friends" lol. You gotta learn to approach folks.
Also, why subway? Why not a bar? Why not a square where people hang out anyway? Why not on a fruit market? You just took the most weird place to approach people since they are tight packed to each other with everyone trying to listen into the conversation and give you weird looks. But even in a subway, it's not impossible.

We're going in circles, let's face it. I can say what I want, it's impossible to do tho. Cause that's how you set your mind. I mean, all the prejudice MUST BE TRUE. Otherwise there would be slim Americans, there would be Serbs who don't hate Croats, there would be gingers with souls. We can't let that happen now can we? I mean, gingers wit souls, just sounds wrong man.

You are not listening. I found lots of things! And sure I talked to some people, but you do not just talk to random strangers here and expect to become their friends.
