Topic: almost got fired from work today

Dead !Pool7hVoC2 started this discussion 14 years ago #16,760

For driving the company vehicle with out the corrective lenses I legally require.

My boss is a bro and bought me some, and paid for my eye appointment. I just have to work around his house every Sunday till I've paid back the $200 it cost in total.

I felt like a piece of shit today.

Externally hosted imageI received another letter from Newman & Co informing me I'm running out of time to pay my £132,398 debt. (I don't have any debt.)

they've sent debt collectors 4 times already, 100+ letters (which get progressively more intimidating) and now they're threatening "legal action against my property" lol. I spent hours today trying to phone them, only to be told to "ring Leeds"/"head office" or ignored completely.

so i had an equally shitty day

You might have had your identity stolen.

Nothing unusual on my two debit cards and I no longer have a credit card. I did have one, and I owed them money, but I paid it all back last year. Newman & Co also handle debt from Capital One (credit card company), so they've obviously made a mistake somewhere.

But they're really unhelpful when I phone them, they tell me to phone their "head office", who in turn refer me back to the original office or tell me to "take it up with Capital One". Now when I phone them I think they ignore me, from both my landline and mobile. Capital One aren't very helpful either, they reiterate what I already know ("No sir, our records show you don't owe £130,000").

The letters never address me by name, but they can't be for the previous owner because I've lived here for long enough and the letters only started a while ago. The step collectors don't even give me a name either, just "Householder".

FFS.

A scam from a large, international and reputable debt collection agency? Oh, okay.

Capital One tell me I don't owe anything, Newman & Co tell me I have debt with Capital One.

They say my "household" has debt; letters are always addressed to "householder" or "sir/madam", they never mention me by name which I find odd. When I called them the first time they looked my 'case' up in their records and then addressed me by name. I'm sure it's Capital One's fault.

Try to get them to take legal action to your property, then sue them for all their worth. You're don't have a contract with them, you don't have a debt with them, and they're harassing you. Sounds like a great case.

It is a hoax to get you to pay money. It is a fraud scheme. Just ignore it.
