What are some types of app that you feel are missing or under-represented on the Android Market?
Are there any apps that you've tried that you thought were a good idea but they weren't quite right?
I'm especially interested to hear about any experiences you may have had with apps that you wanted to like but were frustrating to use and you couldn't find any solid alternatives.

An app to punch people in the face.

haptic feedback in android devices seems a bit lacking for this task...
i could write an app to measure the speed at which you just punched somebody in the face, but it would require the person to be at the same location as you and i've heard that brass knuckles works a lot better than duct-taping a phone to your fist.

Be more creative! An app could be written to punch pictures of faces (by tapping), and the more you tap the more bruises and blood appear until the face shatters (dies). This is how you write an app to punch people in the face. The players score could be based on how quickly they can achieve fatality.

I didn't specify this in the OP, but i was asking about non-game style apps since it's incredibly easy to pump out a prototype or beta version of such an app...
I'm thinking of flooding the android market with apps to get funds going for my game studio, so i'm trying to find some niches that aren't already filled in with known options..
I may actually make a face punching game for android now, lol~

I've had at least a few good ideas for apps, but hell I give ideas for people to make money and I get nothing? Nah. Games are big money makers, so don't discount them so quickly. Even that baby-shaking app made millions. I can be pretty creative, but coding makes me fall asleep.

yes, they are big money makers and it's where I am heading but they also take a lot more time and effort to make properly (fun to play), so I'm looking at the application side of the market currently...
I have some game projects i could port to android with just a bit of effort so i'll probably do that soon but for my flood to work i need some application ideas as well.. it's kind of hard to do some things well when you have no money whatsoever...
this is market research, all you get out of it is real-life karma~
(or maybe some free licenses for my crap android warez)

Do you actually know how to program, or are you going to be one of those people who shits out crappy apps which run like shit just in hopes to make money?
If that's the case, I hope you'll be shot.

I'm a Hack Errâ„¢(pronounced as one word), not quite a coder yet, but i am using these projects to learn and expand my knowledge of coding... i'll leave it up to you to decide whether i should be shot or not (hmm, Shot or Notâ„¢... i just got an idea) but I'm not exactly shitting out something that i've put no effort into.

this seems like a good idea...
what is the currently existing app and what does it do wrong, in your opinion?
