http://www.gaikai.com/ thinks that streaming gaming may be the future, where the game runs on their servers and you get the output and the controls. They've got a few demos up for you to try.
Personally I think it runs like a piece of shit currently, though that could be improved in the future. I also dislike the idea of not owning a physical copy of a game. This might, however, be a very good way for demos. What do you think?

Yeah, if they could improve it to the point where it runs seamlessly then I see no reason why it can't be an option. I don't think that it'll replace physical games for the foreseeable future, though.
I imagine that the corporations like EA and Activision would love it because it means they have pretty much complete control over the game and no second-hand sales.

Not sure how much improvement can be done with the current consumer's internet speeds. I read it definitely sucks empty an 8mbit connection (That's ~800kilobyte's/second data transfer when taking off TCP/IP overhead).
I'm afraid that'll be one of the major bottlenecks, and I'd love to see for them to find a way around it. Should be interesting to see at least.

It has potential. I really like Onlive because of the 30 minute free trial for every game
