Topic: What is SOPA and PIPA?

Anonymous A started this discussion 15 years ago #16,415

I'd usually check on Wikipedia for such things, but they apparently put up a black screen.

Can someone please explain to me what they are?

Disable javascript or use Google cache if you want to look at Wikipedia.

It actually just loads for me if I click right onto an article but not if I go onto the home page.

It's not much a black out if you can get to any article by Google searching it, now is it? Especially when that's how EVERYBODY finds Wikipedia articles.

It worked for me too, but it doesn't anymore. Black screen appears on articles too now, for me.

Ah, I discovered that all articles are blacked out except for Censorship, PIPA and SOPA.

I found that if you load the page and then click the "Stop" button on your browser fast enough, you can read the page as usual. You've gotta be quick though, and click stop before your browser succeeds in loading the black page.

Shit you don't fucking want. That's the shortest explanation I can give you.
