Closed-source operating systems with heavily locked-down programmes that are only available on devices made by a company that has a long history of oppressing labourers? How kawaii :3!

Android's better and cheaper and as of ICS, looks best. iOS only wins as a status object.
WP7 and BlackberryOS are just... lol.

Why? Are you afraid of scary things like custom ROMs, overclocking, undervolting, unofficial updates when carriers are too lazy to release official ones, and other such atrocities?

THIS. The only thing iOS has left going for it is a smoother GUI, and that's pretty fucking minor compared to the fact that anyone with half a brain and a bit of spare time can make their phone run better than intended with Android.
Also, it's sad to see RIM crashing and burning like this. They're nice and Canadian and stuff.

Android will win if they can work on backwards compatibility in future releases, what they've been doing so far is clusterfucked.

That's what they're doing. All of the major manufacturers are guaranteeing that they'll provide OS updates for the 18 months after a phone's release, from now on.

Android, though this is mainly due to ICS being a massive jump forward.

Even GB was pretty good, but ICS will likely be what ends iOS's role as ICHIBAN BOURGEOISIE STATUS SYMBOL DESU.

It it doesn't come with an Apple logo attached, that will never happen.

Good point. I guess I oughta go back to hoping that Apple goes broke due to carriers determining that the iPhone isn't worth selling. @previous (Ishikawa !Et8Dragonk)

WP Mango update was nice, so was Android ICS... my money is on WP7 even tho I wouldn't like neither of those...
I hope RIM gets their shit together and brings blackberry back on top of the smartphone game...

I sold my position in Apple and won't be reinvesting for some time.
The war is over. Android has >50% of the installed base, and while smartphone sales continue to grow, the rate of growth appears to be decelerating.
It's an unfortunate reality that in the area of technology, most people form strong opinions without ever having even tried the competition. So unless Android severely pisses off it's current installed base, most of those users will stick with what they know when it comes time to upgrade.

Android's the future. You'd have to be severely autistic not to see that.
I love WP7 especially since Nokia joined the crew and I have a soft spot for BB, but they've already lost.

I'm rooting for Android here. It's not a totally open platform, but it's by far the most open of the serious platforms. @previous (Handel !khEOdtKF56)
I hope RIM adopts Android so that they don't go bankrupt.
Apple, on the other hand... it'd be nice to see them collapse.

I think Apple's on shakier ground then people realize. As an investment, the beauty of Apple has always been it's absurd profit margins. Obvioulsy, high margins are attainable when product offerings are truly innovative and unique, but they'll crumble quickly once viable alternatives become available.
Most of the growth in iOS in the past couple of quarters came from iPad, not iPhone. That tells you something right there.

That iOS is already heading inexorably towards death on the market.
