Topic: What do you think is the ideal way for humans to eat?

Meta !PARAdoxiHw started this discussion 15 years ago #16,061

And by that, I don't mean a diet you do just to lose weight but the way you eat for life.

I don't eat grains, refined sugar, starches, or dairy and I found by eating this way, I lost a considerable amount of fat and got more energy. My eating consists entirely of meat, fruit, nuts, and vegetables.

How do you eat, MC?

To where I don't feel hungry, not to where I feel full.

Twinkies, McDonalds and gargantuan amounts of diet coke.

Seriously, It depends on the persons body and their particular lifestyle. For me, I must eat a certain amount of bread for fiber due to problems in my upper GI tract, otherwise I cannot digest food properly. In the winter I try to eat less and foods lower in calories. In summer, I do the opposite because I become very active in the summer due to all of the outside maintenance. In reality no food is technically bad for you, Its just certain people do not understand the concept of moderation. People have lost weight by doing nothing more than eating less of the foods they normally eat, others have needed to change their entire diet and their lifestyles.

I eat a lot of pasta and bread. I round it out with beans, nuts, and vegetables. No meat really. I don't like sweet foods, so I tend to stay away from sugar. It seems to keep my body functioning.

I found that vegetables actually supply a lot of fiber, more than bread did, in my experience.

I was told to eat bread explicitly by my doctor.

I actually miss bread, it is quite tasty. I was at the grocery store earlier tonight, and I walked through the bread section and had to fight the urge to buy a loaf of french bread and eat it with easy cheese.

I eat everything... fruit once a day, mcdonalds once a week, fruit yogurt daily... sometimes just baby food for a whole day cause I don't have time for anything, sometimes I eat a ton of cereals with fruit for breakfast and forget to eat the rest of the day... sometimes I eat schnitzels at 1 in the morning... etc.

My tummy is fine with anything I throw at it...

I find that hard to believe or maybe he's a shit doctor.
Most doctors I know recommend eating whole grain, high fibre cerals to bread (Unless the bread is wholegrain of course).
White bread is especially bad for you.

I recently got a blender and I've been making a lot of smoothies. I've increased my fruit consumption a hell of a lot and am losing a lot of weight :)

As for bread... I bake my own with wholemeal flour, really high in fibre. I don't trust store-bought bread because of all the crap they put it in it.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if you were putting fruit in the blender and accidentally knocked it on whilst your hand was still in there?

I think about that a lot, actually! But I'm very anal about having the switch off at the wall until the lid is on it! Generally though, I tend not to put my hand in the blender... just drop stuff in.

Imagine though. Like maybe you didn't have spasm mode activated and derped your hand right through the lid into the blender just after you switch it on.

what is healthy really?
the food pyramid has been redone three times, each one stating the previous one was bad for you
eggs once were bad, now its seafood entirely
fuc the nutritionists, eat what you want.

Anonymous J joined in and replied with this 15 years ago, 8 hours later, 23 hours after the original post[^] [v] #278,445

It changes all the time because of production methods and environmental stresses.

Meat used to be healthy, but they started feeding the cows corn, locking up the chickens in little cages where they can't even move and polluting the oceans with mercury, so now that's out.

Grains used to be healthy, back when grains meant barley and oatmeal. But in the interest of making money, they started pumping out crap like corn flakes and cheerios, so now that's out.

Fruits and veggies used to be healthy, but they started using a shittonne of pesticides, so now that's out.

Whatever's healthy today, they'll find a way to fuck it up in the name of profits tomorrow.

I'm not good at moderation. I'd rather avoid it entirely than risk losing control.

Forego food in protest and obtain your necessary calories from gin.
