Topic: Richard Stallman, the curse of the free software movement.

I'm so fucking tired of everyone acting as if this dude's a saint when he's completely ridiculous. Doesn't even carry a fucking cell phone in this day and age? He dilutes his own message with his eccentricity, and it's absurd.

Richard Stallman:
I am skeptical of the claim that voluntarily pedophilia
harms children. The arguments that it causes harm seem to
be based on cases which aren't voluntary, which are then
stretched by parents who are horrified by the idea that
their little baby is maturing.

The pros of pedophilia are long since done away with. In ancient Greece, letting your teen get fucked by the top merchant, blacksmith or politician was legit, since your child would be trained free of charge to be successful in those careers.

But this is simply not the case now. We have been conditioned by society to think of sex as it's own reward. Modern pedophiles follow suit by offering nothing "in exchange" to their victims. Believing instead, the sexual experience itself is sufficient reward. Parents and society can accept this in the case of adults, but disagree when it comes to children, hence the intense hatred of pedophilia.

For some paedophilia is their only way to make a living. I don't condone the behaviour but who am I to judge?
I don't live on the streets in a shitty 3rd world country.

Of course I don't condemn the children in that case, who would?

I certainly judge the actions of the adults as morally wrong. That there are other people suffering in the world has no bearing on whether pedophilia should be tolerated--that's just inane.

I'm not sure what you mean by education in this context.

I wouldn't be able to give you a number but I can tell you that pornography is the biggest business on the internet.
Over half off all websites out there are pornography sites. TOR is also riddled with child porn.

> I'm not sure what you mean by education in this context.

Obviously if sex is a legitimate human activity than being trained in it is no different than being trained to drive a car or prepare a meal. Trouble is, society has already considered the question and settled on the idea that persons under the age of x (18 in America) are not legal students.

Everyone but teen prostitutes and card-carrying pedophiles is comfortable with this concept, btw.

And certainly like any human activity, there is a context in which education can and should occur. If forced (by economic circumstances or physical force), in extreme distress or pain, I don't see at all how it's useful education long-term.

People aren't trained to drive a car before they are physically capable and are of an age where they're likely to have developed the capacity for good decision-making, for instance. Do you find that to be a silly setup?

The age of consent is 18 in very few places in the US.

@277,382 (Handel !khEOdtKF56)

In the US, a male who has sexual relations with a female under the age of 18 can be brought up on statutory rape charges in any of the 50 states. Is it guaranteed to happen, no, but it remains a possibility regardless.

This is a stone cold fact. You may want to pull your head out of your feminist asshole before running your mouth on things which you know nothing about.

This. Nobody is really saying that on the minute you turn 16/18/21 you're magically capable of consent, but there has to be an AoC and so of course it's going to be semi-arbitrary.

You know, the double standard that states when a 35 year old male fucks a 16 year old girl it's a criminal offense, but when a 40 year old cougar fucks some 16 your old boy it's "you go girl!"

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
