I do both, I take my laptop's battery out and make sure it's not plugged into the wall. My batteries last a long time.

Keep them charged as much as possible. Cycling is only to sync the meter, it shortens the life of the battery every lower and charge.

I dunno dude, I heard mobile phone batteries last longer if you let them run completely down every once in a while. My laptop was left plugged into the mains all the time and the battery only lasts like... probably not even an hour. Though I've had it like two years so I dunno lol

Lithium batteries are best kept charged, or at least that's what the 'experts' say. Heat can shorten the lifespan of your battery significantly.

Lithium batteries work best while partially discharged. To prolong the life of a battery, keep the charge level between 40% and 70%.
