the republican logo is an elephant and all those people are republican politicians. the elephant is making signs about party policies that they have like "marriage is sacred" but then makes exceptions on the bottom for the politicians like " unless Newt Gingritch needs another divorce". it is saying that these politicians are hypocrites.
then the title is "the principled* pachyderm" pachyderm is the scientific name for elephants, and the * next to principled suggests that there will be exceptions like there are on the signs
