Why is is he so young? Isn't he supposed to be and old man?

the story is incomplete but he occasionally becomes an old man by a spell when he has to stealth mode due to magic in public because nobody recognises him as an old man. like today he did it because morgana thinks that emris is an old man and he wanted to demoralise her before the big battle
