Since /o/ decided to be douchenozzles to me, I come to MC. Driving on my way to work, I saw an independent garage. Guy has several cars sitting out there, but the only one I could see the price/make of was a 2001 Chevy Blazer for $4950. It looks clean on the outside, haven't seen the inside or checked the specs on it. What does MC think of '01 Blazers? Also going to look at some of the other cars the guy has for sale. All look really clean and well maintained.

Check the mileage, see if they have maintenance records. I have a few problems with the L35 motor, it wont accept thicker oil, Its not very mod friendly, The syncros on the 5 speed wear pretty quick and will require a rebuild, The electric actuating 4 wheel drive works intermittently at best.
Usually however, if the car was maintained and driven properly, many of these issues wont pop up

I just need a car to go to work in and to do errands in. I don't need a fancy midlife crisis mobile or something stupid like that. Should at least be decent on gas mileage, not be ugly as sin, and not cost more than $5k (excluding tax, title, delivery; or I can get it out the door).

Well I only use synthetic oils in my cars. Not sure if synthetic oils are thicker/thinner than natural oil, but I've been told synthetics help the engine run better or something. Won't be modding anything. At most I'd put a sound system in it (subs etc).

Average gas mileage of a 2001 Blazer is only 15-20mpg. I mean, if that's fine with you then that's good. I personally like my cars at least around 20-25mpg.

I never likes the Micro Blazers very much. I am a fan of the k5/tahoe type. Then again, I drive my vehicles pretty hard.

What I drive now gets around 10 mpg city if the wind is at my back and I'm going downhill. 15-20 mpg would give me a hardon lol.

Oh yeah it's a shorter blazer than a regular one (as you can see I know fuck all about cars). What difference do micro blazers and regular size blazers have when it comes to gas mileage and overall performance?

Have it done professionally, If you are going for subs, you need to wire straight to the battery or else you will blow the electronics in your Gauge cluster.
Synthetic is nice for higher mileage, but a bit overkill on newer cars that do not require it explicitly. Most the cars ive owned piss oil, so synthetic for me is just pouring liquid money on the concrete.

The K5/Tahoe can fit a 350, Its faster and a bit easier to work on vs. the S-10 blazers. I believe you have the 4.3 Vortec TBI, which is actually pretty easy to upgrade the intake and such.
The bigger blazers are fun to drive, but have a hell of a thirst when it comes to gas when you got a lead foot.

Ye my buddy has a regular size blazer. Takes 35 dollars to fill it up (when OPEC isn't deciding to squeeze our collective nutsacks)and uses half a tank driving to Dayton and back.
