I voted for Hitler, just to try and get a handle on what the hell was really going through that man's head. I've read Ian Kershaw's epic biography of him, and it has helped to flesh out the man, but I'm still fascinated to know what drove him to such extremes.

On a more serious note re: Socrates, Plato's account of his death/suicide is one of the most moving and brilliantly written passages in all of literature. The strength of this old man in the face of death, an unjustly abbreviated life, was absolutely inspirational (and, again, deeply moving - one of the very few pieces of writing which can almost bring me to tears).
