Topic: Do I have to go through a psychiatrist to be prescribed Xanax?

Anonymous A started this discussion 15 years ago #14,948

Can I also abuse Xanax once provided with Xanax?

Pretty sure the answer is yes to both.

no, a regular old MD will be able to prescribe it. You can get it for, i dunno, anxiety and panic attacks maybe? At any rate you'll need a few doctors if you really want to abuse it. If you just try and use one doc (unless he's crooked) or he'll eventually catch on because he's not stupid.

yeah me too, though was diazepam. Benzo's are the fucking worst to withdraw from... I would not advise abusing them.

I never had a feel from a seizure - more of a wake up and what the hell just happened lol

I wanna try xanax. Or weed. Same effect, right?

Not really. I guess in the sense that you get sleepy/drowsy.

Don't they both calm you and make you feel at ease?

I don't have enough experience with Xanax. The few times I've tried it I just ended up falling asleep for several hours.

xanax is great for anxiety and you'll be sorta high... if you don't have anxiety, it'll most likely just make you sleepy an' shit

Crush it into a powder, insufflate. Drink alcohol while you're doing it. Lots of alcohol.

Don't insuffluate Xanax... it's not water-soluble. Any effect you'd get from insuffluation is from the drip falling to your stomach. Jesus fucking Christ, what a waste of benzos...

My Zoloft stopped working for my panic attacks. What do you think I'll be prescribed next?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine_withdrawal_syndrome#Signs_and_symptoms

It is not a nice list. Try to slowly build down, and get non-benzodiapine meds, Zoloft (setraline) is an SSRI there are several, setraline may just not work for you bud. Have a look here and ask for something else, avoid Paxil (paroxetine) though, the withdrawal from that is something you don't want.
