Personally, I feel there was a period of a thousand years or so when Christianity was a powerful check against the abuses of the ruling class, but I'm not sure this is true or even relevant anymore. I'm starting to wonder if this is the fate of all ideologies. To be good for a time and to decay into a burden once they gain mainstream acceptance. Is that hipsterish?

But wouldn't that be even more uncool and against the mainstream than actually being a hipster would be? I'm starting to think hipster parody is MFW.
