Finally got this shit working in Ubuntu. Yeah, it takes a week or so to get comfortable with but once you do you can't imagine going back to anything else. It's just so futuristic and cool.

Well I gotta say I did like Unity better at first. It's much less intimidating. But it just won't play nice with my video drivers so I was forced to give GNOME 3 a chance. Now I'm in love. There are many places where it needs improvements sure, but once you grasp the concept behind it it's quite awesome.

Meh. I'd only ever use Suse for KDE, as for some reason they're the only ones who get it right. But it's not worth the hassle otherwise.

Of all the Linux distros going, only Ubuntu is actually doing what needs to be done with respect to marketing. Other distros have better developers. Other distros are less buggy. But they just don't convert from proprietary platforms the way Ubuntu does. Okay, if you count Android it'll put Ubuntu to shame, but I'm speaking strictly about PC space.
Ubuntu certainly has gone downhill in terms of build quality but that's only because they're pushing the envelope so hard at the moment. They don't really have a choice either. Canonical is company trying to make money. If they don't pull users from Windows hard in the next couple of year it's game over for them. Chromium OS will be the de facto Linux distro by then.
I'm an oldfag so I hear what you're saying. I remember the old days of Ubuntu where everything worked flawlessly out of the box. But sadly, hipsters caught wind of open source so it started attracting more prima dona developers than legit hackers. What we're seeing in Linux today is what happens when you give hipster faggots total freedom. Nobody codes open source for anything other than bragging rights anyhow, so perhaps it's a natural fit.

I feel that 2.x should have stayed standard for at least another year or two; 3 just wasn't ready and still isn't. I think there is a GTK3-compatible GNOME 2 fork, though, so whatever. > Unity just wants to copy Mac GUI.
