Topic: I got invited to a party my boss is throwing.
Anonymous A started this discussion 15 years ago#14,780
My boss is celebrating his wedding anniversary and invited pretty much all of his employees out. He told me I could take the day off of work on the condition that I go. I get along fine with the people I work with but I prefer to keep my work and private lives separate. What do?

It sounds pretty innocent enough, but I would recommend you don't drink much if at all if that is what you are concerned about.
Who knows? Perhaps it could show that you are a team-player and would win his favor in terms of a promotion or something?

Go, it will be like a work party. Otherwise you risk pissing off your boss.

> 1. free food on ur boss > 2. you have no problems with everybody.
#1 is the only reason you need, and #2 is just icing on the cake.

True enough. It'll be a little weird seeing people not in their work uniforms I guess. Could be fun, but I dunno how much. Eh a day off of work makes it worth it in the long run I think.

Bring a gift (if weren't planning to already), a gift card to a decent restaurant is easy and people use them.

I was wondering about this. The issue being I'm broke as sin. Between school, rent and a car payment I can barely keep myself fed let alone buy gifts.

I feel your pain. Not much you can do being broke... don't worry about it, I'm sure your boss will understand he has a cheap, ungrateful employee. trollface

The guy makes like 3x my salary so I'm sure he wont care. The strangest part will be seeing him as an equal and not my boss.

Out of respect for people's privacy, I am not going to show you her picture and explain why that is pretty damn nasty.
Not enough beer in the world...
