I want to make cornbeef and cabbage with onions, carrots and potatoes but I don't want it to be bland. I would like to make it for christmas at my folks and I want it to be really good. Anyone here, maybe, is possibly a chef of some sort and could perhaps help me?

Okay, i found one. I just started simmering the corned beef in a pot of water and i added the flavor packet it came with. in 2 1/2 hours I add potatoes and carrots. 15 minutes later: cabbage. 12-15 minutes after that and its done.
we'll see how it goes.
