I have about 10% of a normal hearing range in my left ear, but my right is fully deaf. In 5-10 years, it is predicted that that 10%, too, will leave me. My hearing aid is very helpful, though. It can't make my left ear 100%, but it brings it up to a manageable level, provided I'm standing on the right of someone.

I think I remember this now. In 5-10 years they will have better technology!

I thought I had said it here before, but I wasn't sure if either of you had been here that long.

they already have wetwired implants that replace ears for people who are fully deaf
in 5-10 years this kind of thing will be trivial

This is correct. But I don't like to be modified, so I will refuse such technology.

I do. With my high-power headphones, I am able to hear it with greater clarity than if they were singing to me live. I have more trouble discerning lyrics than others, but I still enjoy it. @262070 (G)
