Topic: realistically, how difficult is it to go abroad for higher education from the US of A?

I'm referencing specifically Canada, the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, and Finland. I am a fluent English speaker. Not counting grades and shit, is it difficult with visas and simply getting there? One issue I foresee cropping up is the distance making visiting and communication difficult.

Just go to McGill. It's in Montreal which feels a hell of a lot more like a foreign country than the other Canada does.
