Ishikawa !Et8Dragonk started this discussion 15 years ago #14,570

Or should I just convert my ebooks? I mean, I like the kindle the way it is.. Or can it be better?

there's really no reason to root your kindle fire

nothing is locked down

and the root is just installing stuff that you could have done manually

tldr; amazon didn't dick you... only root if you happen to require su for something

Well, I can't install Android Market, rather, I can, but it won't let me put in a google account to access it..

? I changed my mind though, I'd let you use it, but then I wouldn't feel right using Craigslist to try and hook up with random people, knowing you'd get the emails too :/ lol

If you use the Prime, don't. It disables video.
If not, sure.

I wouldn't until someone develops an exploit app to root and unroot with the push of a button. I'm a lazy fag like that.

If you don't use prime, root it and ask Fox how he managed to install Google market on his fire so you can actually use the device properly.

huh? The kindle fire doesn't have the android market? Seriously???

My brain is full of fuck from the sheer fail of such a prospect.

Doesn't have the Google Market. Android functions perfectly fine without any of the Google software, but most people are used for it plus it's the leading way to retrieve apps. Plus there are a bunch of APIs provided by the Google stuffs which a fair amount of apps depend on.

If one wouldn't want to use the Google Market there are other market apps out there that could be used instead as well. Except that they're less popular, have less apps and more malware.

I think I am going to settle with it as it is now. The acid test for its browser amazed me. But, in the future I may. Prime is OKAY, but I also have Netflix, possibly Hulu +. notsureifneeded.jpg

Netflix is a textbook example of arrogant management shitting all over their market leadership position. They're dumber than Microsoft for Christ's sakes. Amazon for me. I can never do business with those tools again.
