Why haven't a lot of people committed suicide? Some people love being in the middle of the ocean for extended amount of times, but I'm with you on this. I can't stand being that long in the middle of a sea.

I think that only a minority of people take that route though. I don't think that the majority of the worst off people in those countries are all forced into piricy. Just the ones who don't give a fuck.
