Topic: Redstone Noob Here

Anonymous A started this discussion 15 years ago #14,216

Image went missingI made an arena for my clay armies, but I have a question.

I want the stone pressure pad to lower the pistons so the gates can be opened and the armies enter the arena.

But they are lowered and when I step on the pad. It rises. As you can see in the image. It's just a straight solid line of redstone running from piston to piston. Did I do something wrong? I'm not so good with redstone.

You need an inverter. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Redstone_Circuits#NOT_gate_.28.C2.AC.29

Which one is the inverter and where would I place one?

You could place one at each of the pistons under ground, or see my epic drawing where the lines are redstone, the X is a block used for the inverter and the O is the torch used for the inverter. You remove the redstone going directly to the pressure plate.

The inverter is the NOT gate that I linked to. You make it like redstone->block->redstone torch attached to opposite side of block

Image went missingAny advice on how I can improve my arena setup here. The big thing is suppose to be an observation deck. The fences does don't work out so I'm going to need to find an alternative for the walls. They cannot be too short. Any suggestions?

r04r replied with this 15 years ago, 7 minutes later, 1 hour after the original post[^] [v] #252,371

@252,369 (A)
There also needs to be a piece of redstone under the block that the pressure plate is on.

@previous (A)
Why don't the fences work out? I tried it real quick, and you can walk over them fine when they're lowered.

I like it, but i would replace the observation deck with Colosseum type stadium seats. You don't need them on both sides, even just on the side where the observation deck is would work.

This is actually located in an abandoned NPC village and the arena is built right next to the end of the road with a building there. How would I make the seating. I tried to do that before I build the deck, but the design looked somewhat mah. Advice for how to build some nice seating? And yes, those are shelves. I have that mod install too so I have a little general store going there. This world is basically one I can fuck around in. I also have a bar with beer and wine.

@252,371 (r04r)
They don't work with the clay soldiers because they will bounce up and down on them as if they are stuck. I guess you need to surround them with blocks.

oh lol

The walls may be tricky. Use doors instead, maybe?

This mod is very fucking fun. He says you should install it into your minecraft.jar, but I just put the .zip into my mods folder and it worked just fine. I assume this was because I have modloader installed in the .jar.

How do you guys like my general store?

I replaced the wood gates with iron doors. That seemed to do the trick, but I may go to a wooden door instead. Mostly because buttons are a pain in the ass when you're locked in a room with little colorful men.
