Friday 11/18 a new classic era (vanilla to velious)pvp emu server goes live tomorrow.

There is a regular server currently in late kunark (VP is going live Friday).

The server staff tries its best to recreate the classic feel. They have better hacking detection than Sony. Seriously. There will be very little if any hacking. Very active community (peak players on the non-pvp has hit over 1k and hits above 600 on weekends easy. Always 200+ on).

No boxing (can get an Ip exemption if multiple people on one connection. They catch people abusing this to 2box, though).

It's going to be a little speeded up timeline initially. Game will follow EQs progression closely based on facts. For something to be changed, there needs to be documented proof. The DEVs are really great with this. No "well I remember such and such." manastones and such will be in initially.

It's free. Get the 3.4GB torrent for the Everquest titanium client (the site says you must buy a copy, but that is just sony leaves them alone).

I'll be playing a DE enchanter. Post your name if you decide to play. I've also got a 31 SK on blue I might play again. Or my 16 warrior, but he's an iksar. Until velious gets close I kind of don't see th point.

This game can run on netbooks. It's from 1999. It's great.

Dont let the game patch. If it patches, reinstall.

Go to the "get started" guide and follow the instructions.

This game isn't for sissies. Death hurts. Some tips:
Google how to make a macro, and make a macro for "/loc" there are no maps.

For maps, google "eqatlas" for maps. Post if you have any questions. The game really gets fun when you start to group.

Leveling is slow compared to other MMOs (not Korean level, but closer to that than wow).

I'd play a bit on the blue server before the pvp. Pvp is tough. If you like it, though, it's really fun. It's really a PvE game. The PvP is for people who love PvP.

Late game PvE is the best I've ever experienced. It probably seems very simple, but a skilled group of players can really shine in this game. Current crop of MMos are pretty much no fail.

Graphics don't bother me. It's all classic (pre-luclin) so its all the same style, which is more important to me.

I played when it came out, though.

in case anyone is interested. it goes live tonight sometimes around 5pm EST (definitely before 7PM EST) still time to get it downloaded and installed.

if you are using windows 7 you may need to download a new version of daemon tools to mount the CDs. Just get hte trial version and follow the readme in the file.
