You know what I tell people who aren't paying me? "Get a new computer." Especially if it's a laptop and/or it's really old. Hell, even if they're paying me, if it's nor worth what they're paying, I just give the money back and say "Get a new computer." Sometimes it's just not worth dealing with old fucks who seem to have a new problem once a week.

Maybe computers just aren't for her then. How long ago did she buy this laptop? If it's really old, sorry, but it's time to do the shopping experience again. If it's new and already having problems either a) go through the warranty program and make the manufacturer deal with it or b) she needs to learn to not fuck up her computers.
And don't get me started on picky shoppers. Selling computers is part of my job, and I have people who don't know the difference between RAM and hard drive wasting hours of my day expecting me to explain every single little thing to them. I still have people ask me if it comes with Windows or do they have to buy it. Or "Does this come with Windows 7?" Seriously? Every fucking retail computer on the market comes with Windows 7 unless it's a mac or a linux netbook. Period. Why is it so hard for people to get this through their thick skulls?

Guess what? Time to bite the bullet and get a new computer. Deal with the shopping experience once and forget about ever having to deal with these weekly fuck-ups ever again. My mom is only slightly more competent, but considering my father thinks the computer is a magic porn machine, (he used to steal my laptop, until I threatened him with loss of his fingers. Now he just fucks up the upstairs desktop.) that's not saying much
