1. People assume god is good because that's what mommy and daddy tell them.

3. Atheists typically only bring out the healing the lepers type shit when specifically confronted with someone claiming that god is all-powerful and compassionate. After something terrible happens, if any lives were just almost killed, it becomes a miracle they were not. God magically decided to step in just late enough to let others die.
You want to add stipulations to god (he is a dick), but if you reject the religious version of a god, you are completely without support for their existence.

Still, it's unlikely that's the case. Why need a god at all? It makes a lot more sense that there isn't a god.
God has never appeared to me. Nothing had happened in my lifetime to suggest a god exists. There is evidence of a very long history of earth, but none of that supports any of the creator myths.
It's not likely there is a god. We knows gods are a man-made concept. The god of the Abrahamic religions definitely doesn't exist because you need to be extremely crazy to believe the bible, or you need to be a little crazy and choose to pretend that some is metaphor but the other shit is fact (especially jesus -- any myth that steals directly from god myths that preceded it and were well known by the people in the areas it originates from is kind of obviously fake).
