I don't hunt anymore. I hunted a lot when I was younger and had to put down some animals in my time. Putting down animals is what made me not like killing ... I've killed everything from injured deer, dogs etc, to a bunch of puppies and kittens (imagine killing puppies and kittens for a moment). I'll kill something to put it out of its misery and I would kill for food if I had too. I may go deer hunting again in the future, but I just haven't got around to it.

Yah, venison makes killer jerky, sausage, stews, and chili. Venison is pretty shit on its own or without a good dose of seasoning, it's not like a steak that you can just throw on the grill and enjoy.

When I was about 15 I found a litter of kittens once that the mother had abandoned, they were making a lot of noise is the only reason I found them. The umbilical cord was never even taken off of them and had managed to wrap around each one of their limbs, some of the kittens two limbs even... their legs were dead. Not a single kitten managed not to get tangled, there were around 6 of them and they were obviously suffering and I literally could do nothing for them. They weren't going to be saved, or taken to the vet or anything like that... their fate was sealed, so I ended their suffering as quickly and humanely as possible. Later when was about 19 and on my own I had taken in a pregnant stray dog that someone had dumped (people dump animals in the country too fucking much), when the puppies were born they seemed normal for a bit, but then they started acting kinda sick... just a little at first, then really fucking sick. The puppies got so sick they would be like barely walking and then fall over shaking, unable to walk at all. Growing up on farms, I knew it was distemper (a fatal non-curable contagious disease). I waited until there was no question of their sickness and put them down... IIRC one didn't get sick at all, but later got ran over when a visitor came. That was the second pregnant dog I had taken in, the first pregnant dog got hit by a car... mangled to hell, had to put that down too. Mind you, I've always been an animal lover so these were not at all pleasant experiences, but definitely the right thing to do, animals shouldn't be left to suffer.
