Someone in an MMO, who was from the UK was going on about human rights in the "Help" channel, claiming that muting his character was an abuse of his human right to free speech and that everyone who told him otherwise was ignorant of EU law and that his right to free speech trumps any and all of the corporations rights.
I was lol'ing hard for the entire half hour that this went on.
Brits think they are entitled to do whatever the fuck they want and there will be no consequences because they will sue you if they feel their rights have been violated in the slightest bit even though they don't even understand those laws.

True, but at least when Americans go batshit over their right to free speech they are usually correct and realize there is a difference between temporarily muting a virtual game account and cutting out your tongue or something, which is what that guy was equating the situation to.
It just amuses me that in the EU they seem to think they have superior laws and such, but then they don't even fucking understand what those laws do and start extrapolating crazy shit. Then again, the rules over there do seem a bit fucked, so I can see how one could become confused.

No, they aren't. They think they can go onto a private website and be as disruptive as they like because "we have free speech". The laws in the WU are fine if you actually look at them instead of reading tabloid newspaper. I don't know why you are taking a 12 year old impression of the law seriously.

Yeah you're right, it was more amusing because it's not typical of someone in the EU so it stood out as being extra retarded. But you do sometimes see these people, who think they are enlightened about their rights and certain laws, but they have it all wrong.
In America it's: > Herp derp free speech
In the EU it's: > detailed explanation of why the agreement I agreed to is invalid and how there are human rights to free speech which are being violated by your even threatening to mute my player character in an online video game and corporations can't do shit even if they are in US and I will sue them if they threaten my human rights again even though there is no binding agreement between myself and the game company.
