I'm not sure why they would do that, Mexican officials are horribly corrupt, her reporting on violence wouldn't change much, and killing her only helps to spread the message of violence. I worked with a guy who works in the states on a legal work visa and travels back and forth throughout the year, he was telling me the corruption is so bad even schoolteachers get bought and paid on a regular basis, not only that but they also extort money out of parents. Mexicans are humans like anybody else, but their culture is absolute shit and the smart ones know it.
