I’m not sure I have an opinion on this, but it is interesting not too long ago Anthropic was saying they’d have a 2 trillion dollar valuation after their IPO. Then they changed it to 1.5 trillion… but now after the midterms it’s 1 trillion.

2T is beyond ridiculous based on revenue. Fantasy football “future valuation.” The S-1 had 93 pages of risk factors, a novella 2x-3x most companies.
At this point it’s hostage taking: “Give us what we demand or we will crash GDP, the stock market, and the private credit markets. All of your workflows are belong to us.”

Ngl, I know this is a tech company, but even for a San Francisco based tech company listing "AI could end humanity" as a risk factor in their IPO just shows they’re massive nerds. And not in a fun way.

But anyway, that’s beside the point. The point is, I don’t know what I should think about this. I just don’t know anymore. The billionaires have gotten wackier and wackier and now we’re at a point where I have no thoughts.

Imagine a biotech startup: “Our new elixir can cure common diseases and possibly cancer in future iterations. Unsubstantiated versions could go airborne. If you have the following conditions, 60%-80% of you are likely to die.”

Yeah it’s like, I don’t believe them when they say that, but at the same time, I almost feel like they deserve to fail for having the audacity to say that.

The tech is real, LLMs can do stuff, that’s true. They can certainly do things, useful things even, and there’s value in that. But the stuff that comes out their mouth just sounds like something a scammer would say. Idk, it’s like theranos or something.

Tbh I don’t feel any particular way about LLMs, but the more I hear from these AI CEOs the more I hate them. They tell such obvious lies all the time and try to fear monger because they want more money.
