Why exactly are people saying this now anyway? Trump has faced election defeats before most notably against Biden and yet he came back. I really don't know why people think this blue wave is the end of Trumpism. In fact I think it should tell you there's a deeper issue at play here when Trump could come back at all after his first term. Even if Trump goes away, Trumpism is likely here to stay.

There’s always been an autocratic strain in American politics. Some people lazily want a messianic leader to deliver them, the Huey Long or William Jennings Bryant. Trump is an excellent con man considering his history of getting dupes to invest in his bad ideas, bad TV show, grifts, and two failed presidencies.

Because of the constitution and the fact he’s a 240 pound 80 year old and the US average male life expectancy is 76. He can’t run again according to the constitution, he can’t change the constitution because he just lost both chambers of congress, and even if he did he’s not going to live that much longer.

I mean…at some point voting does mean something. I would like to think that my vote counts towards the best outcome for everyone, myself included.
Like if at the end that makes us dense and voting means very little then we might as well give up, wipe our asses with the constitution and don’t vote at all.

Elections are decided as much by people who do vote as they are decided by people who don’t vote. The reason the democrats won isn’t because everybody woke up one day and decided to be a democrat, it’s because a lot of republicans didn’t feel like voting.

Personally I think it’s worth voting just because it’s the only mechanism in our society where everybody has equal say. If it wasn’t for voting, we’d be in a dictatorship where rich people call all the shots. Which as bad as it is now, it could her a lot worse. Their greed knows no bounds, if it was up to them, they’d probably bring slavery back.
