Topic: That new Hegseth video statement holy shit lol

Anonymous A started this discussion 20 hours ago #139,084

Calling out trannies, saying narco terrorists should straight up die, and demanding congress give him more money for the war. Lol I gotta admit this guy has some balls after seeing how the election went but more than that it shows he really believes in this holy war stuff. I honestly thought he was like every other trump lackey and would run as soon as he heard Dems are coming for him but he's standing ten toes down.

Let's see how it works out for him

I’m not saying selling drugs is good, but saying Mexicans are terrorists because White people pay them to bring drugs into the country is just a little bit of a stretch of the definition of the word "terorrism."

Democrats a subservient to the military industrial complex just like the Republicans, he'll get what he asked for.

Yeah I guess you're right. He'd end up with more enemies if he backed down. So now we have Trump and Hegseth ready to double down on the Iran war. This should be fun. Ironically the election win for dems probably made this whole situation worse lmao

Worse for who though? In two years Pete Hegseth isn’t going to be secretary of defense and he’s going to have to deal with whatever whoever’s in power thinks about him.

Everyone. If Trump can't get shit done at home in the US because of a dem congress he'll just focus on the war and he's never going to admit defeat for something he's focusing on so expect the war to escalate further. He's not just going to twiddle his thumbs for 2 more years.

Maybe, but he’s only president for two years though. Apart from a US ship getting sunk or something like that leading to a draft (unlikely), I don’t think Americans have anything to worry about from the Iran war beyond the cost of living increasing.

meh, the dems did not win anywhere as near as much as they hoped. Their power is as fragile as trumps right now, and both sides can only hope for two years of gridlock, which is a pretty good result for the commoners of both sides.

I think whatever happens with big tech in the next two years is going to affect the American economy much more than the Iran war. OpenAI is going to IPO in 2027 and Anthropic will IPO this month if all goes to plan. Nobody can predict the future, but only one of them has to fail for it to cause problems because of how much money is caught up in that, and the probability at least one of the two companies has problems is more likely than that they both fail. It’s basically two versions of the same company in a winner take all race, but they each want trillion dollar valuations. So if one of them wins and the other loses, that’s a trillion dollar problem. I’m just saying…

Two years is a long time. Did you forget how quickly Trump was moving within the first year of this current term? Iran has already vowed to retaliate if Trump starts hitting them hard again and they've said they want to attack overseas. Even beyond that, Putin sees Trump's grip is slipping now so he can't use Trump to pressure Ukraine as effectively which means Putin is more likely to take drastic measures now. It's probably fucked no matter what way you look at it

I don’t think that’s the case, the democrats were guaranteed to take the house but people were skeptical they could take the senate. They have the senate and the house and in the house they’re going to have at least 253 seats (they’re still leading in more races that haven’t been called yet so they could get near 260 seats in the house). The main problem is Trump’s veto power. But it will be much easier for democrats to block republicans from passing anything. Which gives them power in a way since in order to pass anything republicans will have to negotiate with democrats.

Yes, but most of his actions were done via executive orders not through congress because congress was a close split between democrats and republicans with republicans having a slim majority, which in the American system isn’t enough for republicans to pass bills without convincing some democrats because of the whole 2/3rds majority thing.

In 2028, everything Trump did via executive order can be undone just as easily as it was done by whoever the next president is.

The republicans havent done a single thing of note with their omni-majority anyway, so nothing was lost.

It was a slim majority and 100% of republicans don’t always agree on everything so to pass anything they needed to convince a few democrats.

Trump still has the supreme court in his pocket. He'll be signing executive orders and vetoing bills like a motherfucker. It's really tempting to think the world is saved now but the reality is there's just too much momentum and some large scale conflict is probably inevitable.

Having over 50% isn’t really enough in the US system to pass anything you want, you have to get significantly over 50%. Which the democrats don’t have in the senate, but the house will be very skewed towards democrats now.

I’ve always said the DEA should poison drugs and let them circulate to obliterate the demand curve. Without buyers a market collapses. Economically, the DEA simply represents a price control agency for the cartels.

Americans have wet dreams of being manhandled by the police, and they yearn for the structure of prison life.

That is pretty badass. The rationalizations are interesting. This is a different concept of reality.
