Now imagine the end of the pendulum is projected in the visual sense downward at all times. What shape is being drawn upon the floor?
OK, now what if the pendulum apparatus is rotated at the pivot point at the top? What shape is being drawn?
Now how about instead of rotating the pivot, instead the pivot is connected to a higher second pivot that itself has pendulous motion at a right angle to the first pivot?
