Remember back in 2012 when we thought iPhones would be transparent by now because transparent TV was released in 2009 and people saw Samsung and Apple had patents for transparent components, but they never bothered making a transparent smartphone because they could never figure out how to make every single component transparent so they just never bothered?

Edit: it was transparent, it was not an oled

They’re still making subpar science fiction movies in 2026 where all the screens are transparent.

The technology exists, but none of the hardware manufacturers care.

They settled for glass backs, and somehow mine hasn't shattered in the 4 years I've had it, so that's grate I guess.
