The whole rapture thing is a misinterpretation stemming from some offshoot Protestant cult. It was the Millerites. They sold their possessions and prepared for the end of times.

Our pastor moved back to the midwest, I assume the rapture stuff was fading in popularity (Jesus calling to him to go of course). New church went 50/50 hipster/megachurch with him gone. I don't miss any of that; thanks mom and dad for the brainwashing.
