I haven't interacted with AI much since it took off. I never really understood the hype and the few times I have interacted with it have been very underwhelming. I'll ask it a question and it'll return a very basic surface level answer so I have to ask it to be more specific and even when it returns a more specific answer it's like 2 sentences so I have to constantly prompt this thing for info to get anywhere. If I asked a human, they'd understand after the first or second question and they'd be able to draw up graphs, tables, and other visual examples and explain in depth how things relate to one another. AI is little more than a more complex automated search engine and I'm supposed to believe this shit can take over the world?

It would take a lot longer to get graphs and tables from a person than an AI.

I guess that would depend on the model you're using but i think the bigger issue overall is the human can understand my intent faster. If I'm asking for an explanation and example of linear regression, the person will assume I know nothing about it so they'll explain things to me starting from zero with plenty of examples and most of that I wouldn't even have to explicitly ask for. AI (or at least the ones I've interacted with) aren't like that at all. The AI hype is massively overblown unless we're talking about specific fields like math, coding/hacking, and making memes.

I work with a couple AI boosters and they strike me as being afraid of missing out like they did on the cryptocurrency stuff (they bought in late and lost thousands).

Or maybe not, maybe there’s a smarter more efficient way to do it. The human brain uses about the same amount of energy as a lightbulb. If you look at energy efficiency, computers are nowhere near biology.
