Certain Russians might not like that their neighbors aren't away to die in whatever war the warmonger is focused on blundering. But idk, I think the world would instantly become like 20% better

At this point it wouldn't matter. You have all those young russian men dying in trenches and you're going to tell their families it was all for nothing and they still have to be poor? That's not going to fly, chief. Give it 10-15 years and they'd try again under a new leader. It's a spiritual battle to restore the "glory" of the USSR. That why putin isn't stupid and he's injecting a lot of money into poor russian communities by paying them a lot to sign up for the war. The war stops and their newly found prosperity collapses so these poor soldiers will fight tooth and nail to keep the war going. You don't get to be king by just being good at telling people what to do. You get to be king by convincing others they always wanted to listen to your orders anyway.
They've already fooled the people who just didn't know the reality of their very bloody war, they might be able to fool the people who aren't fit for war, because of mental illness or whatever, people who are desperate to survive even at peace time. There's a reason they are preparing for a second mobilization and Putin is going to send them without any guns
