Certain Russians might not like that their neighbors aren't away to die in whatever war the warmonger is focused on blundering. But idk, I think the world would instantly become like 20% better

At this point it wouldn't matter. You have all those young russian men dying in trenches and you're going to tell their families it was all for nothing and they still have to be poor? That's not going to fly, chief. Give it 10-15 years and they'd try again under a new leader. It's a spiritual battle to restore the "glory" of the USSR. That why putin isn't stupid and he's injecting a lot of money into poor russian communities by paying them a lot to sign up for the war. The war stops and their newly found prosperity collapses so these poor soldiers will fight tooth and nail to keep the war going. You don't get to be king by just being good at telling people what to do. You get to be king by convincing others they always wanted to listen to your orders anyway.
They've already fooled the people who just didn't know the reality of their very bloody war, they might be able to fool the people who aren't fit for war, because of mental illness or whatever, people who are desperate to survive even at peace time. There's a reason they are preparing for a second mobilization and Putin is going to send them without any guns

The fact they've already denied a second mobilization just like they did before the first mobilization tells you all you need to know. Those russian boys will keep watering that soil with blood.
There are two opposing views, one is the "end of history" view that all of history is a struggle between democracy and autocracy and democracy is destined to win out over autocracy because it’s more rational and enlightened. The other view is that democracies can vote themselves out of existence and if you look backwards, most governments were authoritarian, so democracy might be vulnerable.

It wouldn’t change anything. History has proven that many times. Some variant of the kremlin will survive and another will take his place to continue the cycle.

I like when they freed the serfs then found other means to bind them to the land. They went from slavery to sharecropping. Russia has only had a top down system and palace economy since forever.

Tbh when Russia was communist at least they stood for something. Now they’re just authoritarian nihilists and I’m not sure that’s any better.

The Russian government doesn’t really seem like they have any political interests other than causing chaos in western countries for the sake of causing chaos in western countries. They’ll back anything as long as it’s bad for us.
