I saw a short documentary on a guy who lives off the land in alaska. It made me want that. Its in line with my world view.
I want to learn to hunt. I figure to start with small game and focus on that until I get basics down (tracking, shooting, field dressing, whatever else).
Can you recommend any books to get me started? I'd try to find a hunter or pay someone to show me before I try do anything. Figure I'm a long ways away from that.

Start with a local gun club. Hunting and safety courses are pretty common.

Why limit yourself to one? You can move to some of the more rural areas of Utah with several and live relatively unmolested by the authorities.
