My best theory is they’re underreporting the amount of lead in the tap water and I’m fine because I always drank filtered water since childhood. Beyond that I have no theories as to why this level of stupid exists at such a grand scale.

I’m joking, but you can google when lead pipes were banned in the US, and then think about how old US cities are relative to that year, and ask yourself, have you ever seen the government tear up the ground and replace miles and miles of pipes under every street in America? If you put two and two together it’s like, yeah, there’s probably lead in the water.
