It used to look a lot like pokemon for adults, but I was always sure there's more to it, and it's economics I guess, world events too.... But other than the shares being effected by the bottom line or events that effect the bottom line, it's basically just pokemon cards

Trust what? It is heavily manipulated and a lot of trading firms have special fiber lines to the exchanges that can preempt your trades. Financial shenanigans abounds and SEC enforcement has been curbed. The entire history of the U.S. has been filled with speculative bubbles. Just in some of our lifetimes: 1974, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2000, 2008, 2020.
It’s a gamble. Investor sentiment means more than fundamentals. There’s usually a retrenchment.
